The Gasthof Drei Hacken belongs to the initiative „GENUSS REGION ÖSTERREICH“, which stands for culinary treats and pleasures for your palate. Only the best inns and restaurants are part of this circle. These culinary establishments guarantee high quality products of documented origin, seasonal products and Austrian hospitality, every day again and again.

Four times a year the landlords of these establishments offer the „Genusswochen“ - (weeks of pleasure), creating tasty and unique dishes made with seasonal and regional products.

One of the products that grows between the Danube river and the Czech border is the grey poppy which is used to prepare dishes such as dumplings, strudel and many more delicacies.

Typical and frequently used is also a special kind of regional pear. Another typical product is the sheep cheese in rolls. Originally a side product, today it is handled as delicacy. Of protected origin is also the apricot growing in this region. It is highly popular due to its special aroma resting upon the particular climate of the region. Moreover the Waldviertel hosts the largest carp fish farming region of Austria and this fish is therefore also present on the menus of the restaurants in our area.

Thanks to the climatic conditions, the potato of this area also belongs to the special products. They are serves as basis for meals such as the potato salad. The local horseradish, however, spices many of our plates, giving them the right flavour.
